Officer James Bossen was piloting a small aircraft while transporting two prisoners for the Indiana Dept of Corrections with a private guard when he was killed. In heavy fog, the aircraft crashed into the side of a mountain killing everyone on board.

After returning from Vietnam Officer Bossen served with the Marion County Sheriff's Dept in Indiana for 12 1/2 years previously.
