Mike, Its been almost 9 years since you left us. I still think about you everyday. I have your helmet on my wall not only in your memory but what you taught me in the years we served through recruit class and up. The times we played ball, fished, and even attempted to golf. The laughter of the good times and even the serious times when we were called for duty. You were there for me when my sons were born. The good and the bad. I would always follow you into the depths of the fire as you would me. We always had each others backs. I miss you brother and wish you were still with us. I know you are but in another form watching over us and protecting us. Rest easy my friend. We will meet again some day.

Mike,

We think of you so often--your sense of humor and quick wit, your patience with new recruits, your willingness to go the extra step for your fire family. It's nearly 3 years since you made your final alarm while working to train others. We miss you more...

Sgt. Andre (Mike) Ellis died doing what he loved.Mike was always searching for new ideas, fresh ways to help other people "get it" about his love for the fire service. He worked with our Explorers, and new members, emphasizing Firefighter Safety. He was recognized for his hard work, sense of Duty and loyalty to the department. In Janurary 2007, Dixie Suburban Fire District dedicated a new apparatus to the memory of Sgt. Ellis. Mike worked very closely with Chief Robbins in the design and planning stages of the truck. We were fortunate to have his family in attendance at the dedication to share both our joy and feelings of loss. We miss you, Mike.
