Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Southport, Indiana (southside of Indianapolis) Police Department and their families after a Southport officer has been shot in the line-of-duty following a vehicle pursuit. The officer has been transported to Eskenazi Hospital. There is no word yet on his condition.

It is with deep regret we announce the line-of-duty death of Saint Louis Fire Department Captain John Kemper. Captain Kemper died earlier today from complications of an injury sustained while battling a structure fire in the early morning hours of July 5th -- as a result of illegal fireworks. He was one of four SLFD firefighters injured and transported within a 12-hour period.

Please keep the Kemper and Saint Louis Fire families in your thoughts and prayers.
