Incident

While fighting a basement fire in a residence at 200 Northwest J. Street, Chief Miller became overcome by smoke. He was transported to Reid Memorial Hospital where he later died. Ironically, his father, who previously served as Richmond fire chief, died a similar death while fighting a fire in 1931.
