Incident

As officers from Lebanon Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a residence around 9:30 A.M., they observed a suspect known to them nearby who had outstanding warrants. As they approached, the subject fled in a vehicle with two others.

After a short chase, two suspects fled on foot. As Deputy Pickett chased after one, shots were fired and he suffered fatal injuries.

The Sheriff announced just before 4:00 P.M. that Deputy Pickett would not survive and that his organs are being harvested.

Deputy Pickett, we thank you for your service and sacrifice. You provided safety and security to your community, Boone County, and the State of Indiana. You will be greatly missed my brother, by all who wear the uniform.
