Incident

At approximately 11:30 P.M. (Eastern) Tuesday, Officer Hamilton and a state trooper went to a home to conduct a follow-up investigation regarding a vehicle theft. While the trooper spoke with individuals who were outside in front of the home, Officer Hamilton followed what appeared to be fresh tracks in the snow leading to the back of the residence. As he peered around the back of the house, he was shot multiple times in ambush. Officer Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene.
