Incident
Deputy Conley was shot at approximately 5:00 p.m. during a traffic stop on I-75 southbound in Scott County near Georgetown.
He was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
After the shooting, the suspect shot a civilian during a carjacking. The civilian's injuries were serious but not life-threatening. The suspect was taken into custody a short time later.
Deputy Conley had served with the Scott County Sheriff's Office for four years. He had previously served in the U.S. Army for eight years.
