Deputy Sheriff Leonard T. Davis

Deputy Davis was in pursuit of a bank robbery suspect when he died from a heart attack.

The suspect attempted to rob a bank in Mount Vernon when another employee interrupted the robbery. The suspect fled in his vehicle after a brief struggle with the employee while a citizen followed. After being notified Deputy Davis and a highway patrol officer attempted to locate the suspect's vehicle and came upon an accident involving him. The suspect had hit another vehicle head-on both the suspect and driver of the other vehicle were killed. Deputy Davis collapsed at the scene while offering aid.
